Playoffs!

Well before we get to playoffs, we must take a look at the highly anticipated Rivalry Week. Unfortunately, not too much was at stake in these matchups, largely due to certain teams not holding their end of the bargain leading up to Rivalry Week.

After weeks of saying Ravi is gay and a fagot, it was Rahul that ended up being embarrassed by taking a beating of more than 80 points! In any case, Rahul had no shot at the playoffs and Ravi’s playoff seeding was solidified.

The most hyped rivalry of the pre-season ended up being a dud.. mainly due to bonehead trades made by Amar and what many would consider an atrocious season. Vik slammed Amar’s mouth shut for a good year after smashing him by 57 and watching him sit on the sidelines as he glides into the Final 4.

The Cincy rivalry actually ended up being a close one, as Rama snagged it by 3 points. Dizzle’s season was over before it began so nothing really to report here.

The high octane Vishal beat Ajay’s solid team by 45, but both teams already had good positioning in the playoffs and will now compete again in the final 4!

The rivalry game we expected to feature two 0-12 teams actually lived up to the competitiveness but unfortunately Bob let the Republicans of WBB win in a 4 pt slug fest. WBB concluded his pathetic “title defense” with an 8th seed in the playoffs and Bob concluded his STY debut as a clown we will all remember.

The only rivalry with any significance ended up being Suman vs Cohin as both were fighting for that 6 seed to aviod playing one of the top two high scoring teams in the playoffs. Cohin cruised easy with a 34 pt win, which had to be frustrating for Suman to watch, especially now after his first round exit.

PLAYOFFS

Some people take a title defense seriously and are devoted to getting that second ring. WBB obviously never took this season seriously with an atrocious start and then eating a smash cake from Vishal in the playoffs by getting crushed by 82! Rather than try to explain let’s see what exactly WBB was up to this season, since it obviously wasn’t fantasy football.

What a weirdo. Moving on…

After an impressive regular season, Rama takes a hard fall to Ajay who has surprised everyone to say the least. Ajay waxed by 18 and will see Vishal in the Final 4.

The Suman and Vik battle was set to be a good one and ended up being just that as Vik hung on to win by 12. Injuries marred Suman’s team, despite having the highest rated draft. He will have a long off season to think about it, and Vik turns in another great season and advances to the Final 4.

Cohin went on to embarrass another former champion for the second week in a row with a 50 point beatdown on Ravi. This KOD team looks very dangerous and there is no telling when/if they will be stopped. Ravi had a good season, but ran into the wrong gangsta in the wrong alley at the wrong time in the wrong city in the wrong hood.

Look to next week. FINAL 4!!!

No mention of the Bottom 4 because they don’t deserve such a thing. Very sad season for all of you and you should be ashamed. Hopefully there will be an opportunity to improve next year IF you aren’t voted out.

PLAYOFFS!

State of The Union – Week 9

Posted in Uncategorized on November 8, 2011 by ckak5

Well my friends, as you can see above this year is like none other. Four teams at the top with the same record, a very, very close race for the remaining 4 playoff spots, 2 former champions in the bottom 4 teams, and a winless team in WEEK FUCKING NINE. We have seen first round busts like Andre and Chris Johnson, Super Bowl contenders collapse like the Chargers, and incompetence by GM’s on how to set a line up in fantasy football. In an era of high scoring by teams and players, there is nothing more baffling than how some fantasy teams are finding ways to get completely blown out week in and week out. Rather than recap the week 9, let’s take a specific look at each team and where they have been, and where they are going.

King of the North (0-9)
I honestly don’t know. Bob says he didn’t realize what he was getting into, got sick of the 12th man jokes, is doing good in another league so he doesn’t care, and hasn’t been able to start a complete lineup in 3 of the last 5 weeks. Despite the 0-9 record, he has the 2nd lowest waiver moves in the league and really blew a great opportunity to have some glimmer to the season when he could have easily knocked off the first place in the league by simply clicking and dragging an IDP into the slot labeled for IDP’s. When Bob joined us, I truly thought he’d have the heart of a lion, Shere Punjab, and the wrath of a true lawyer, slaying opponents left and right and laughing along the way. I have let STY down with this acquisition and for this I am sorry. I hope that he will continue to at least start a lineup, but as we have seen, waiver moves or improving his team really aren’t a priority at this time. An anonymous GM in the league was quoted saying “This is why WuGu sucks dick.”

Gizmodo (1-8)
Just when I thought we have seen it all on the losing end, here we have a team that has lost 8 in a row. He didn’t even start 3 players in week 8 and got in his lineup at 12:47 PM EST for Week 9 to go on to lose by 21. Dizzle has the league low number of waiver moves at 5 total, despite losing Andre Johnson early on and having a hole at RB 2 since the beginning. All we can do is really thank these teams for their donation, nothing else really to discuss about their performance, or lack there of.

** Special Notice: Please be aware at the conclusion of the Week 16 championship, the BOTTOM 2 teams will be voted on by the league as to whether to keep the GM in the league for the following season.**

Curbstompers (3-6)
Amar has had a stroke of hard luck, losing 3 games by a total of 12 points, and his role model and hero in life Peyton Hillis being possibly the biggest disappointment the NFL has ever seen from a Madden cover boy. He comes up with a big 6 point win against Suman, possibly saving his season and putting him back in the playoff race. The Cam pick up has been great, but the Hillis and Bradshaw losses can hurt this team long term. A.P can carry the team on certain weeks but with the weak WR core, the team is way too inconsistent to really bank on anything.

Cash Money Records (4-5)
Well look who we have here rounding out the bottom 4 (after a bottom 4 finish last year as well). Suman was quoted on early in the year after the high draft praise he received, saying “I just waited for the rest of you to fuck up.” If only arrogance counted for points on the field, especially after an atrocious week 9 effort totaling 77 points from this “best team of the draft.” Other than a few wins against the middle to bottom tier teams in the league, this team has struggled against stiff competition and that is largely due to the performance of CJ2K. The mav got paid. Desean’s underperformance and the QB situation in Arizona has really hurt the team, but with Stafford back on the field this week, hope could be restored.

Coochie Monsters (4-5)
Rahul has quietly put together a decent season but keeps losing the games that would have elevated him into the next tier. He was the lucky one that got to play Bob twice this year, and got the other wins against similar competition. The tough part of his schedule comes now starting with Amar this week. There isn’t really one person on the roster that you can look at and be assured they will turn in a big game, other than the Pitt D. So the season goes as such, you never know what to expect from this team.

Thugocracy (4-5)
Billy has turned his season around tremendously since starting 0-4 and is now right in the thick of the playoff race. He leads the league in waiver moves with 28 (TAKE NOTE) and has turned around his entire season. Maybe there is some correlation there? Maybe? After an impressive 4 game run, knocking off Cohin, Ravi, Amar, and Vishal, Rama finally put the republican back in place this week. Vick is starting to heat up and Steve Smith and AJ Green have been nice surprises. If the RBs can stay healthy, this can be a dangerous team at the right time of the season.

K.O.D (4-5)
Cohin has had a tough stroke of luck, scoring the 4th highest point total in the league, yet sitting at number 6. Week in and week out, this team puts up one of the top 5 point totals, but happens to match up against a team that is on a hot streak. Luckily he has two easy ones coming up for the next two weeks, so hopefully this will help him position into a favorable run in the playoffs. Rodgers was a master stroke of a #1 pick as he has been hands down the best player possibly ever for fantasy purposes. The smooth pick up of Forte and a resurgent Bolding and Holmes make this team a high octane offense every game. The D is the big hole here, but the rookie Julio and breakout Hernandez are picking up the slack. I’d be very afraid of this team in the playoffs.

ImGayForBradyQuinn (6-3)
Ajay has definitely been the surprise of the league after starting with the lowest draft ratings. He is going into a tough part of his schedule, however, but maybe has positioned himself to get into the playoffs regardless with the 2 game cushion. Fred Jackson has been a great surprise along with the solid play of Brees and Bowe. It will be interesting to see where this team stands at the end of the season.

HHAY (7-2)
Vishal retains a great season despite moving into the final third of the season, well beyond his usual first quarter dominance. He has had impressive wins throughout and remains consistent in his point total. Although Tom Brady will always be a beast, the rest of this team makes me uneasy and I don’t know if they will perform come playoff time. Hit or miss here.

G.O.A.T (7-2)
Some things don’t make sense and this is one of them. Last season, Rama started at 0-4 and tore the league down to win the regular season title. This year he picked from the 11 spot and wasn’t particularly happy with his draft, yet has embarrassed teams week in and week out. You can’t go wrong with Big Ben and LeSean McCoy is turning into a beast. The WR core is getting it done and a healthy Gates at TE will always put up points for this team. Huge threat moving forward.

Championship Belt (7-2)
Ravi has quietly moved to the top of the league, especially with a big win over KOD this week and putting up the High Point Total of the Week. VJax, Arian, and Jennings are always threats to explode and the increased role of Jacobs makes this a very dangerous team. Matt Ryan is a good QB, but will the young gun stay consistent until the end of the season? This may decide this team’s fate.

DockSquad (7-2)
Sometimes having a good team is not enough and you need some things to fall into place on their own. Vik’s team has been killing teams from the start, but getting to play a KOD team with 6 starters on Bye, and playing Bob back to back, gave him two easy wins. Sproles has turned into a fantasy football beast and complements Ray Rice perfectly. Although Ike Taylor shut down Welker in Week 8, he has otherwise been a monster in this PPR league, making up for the average season of Miles Austin. Schaub continues to roll without AJ, but now with him coming back could be even more dangerous. This team has to be the favorite at this point, based on the record and point total.

A Look Ahead…

We move into the final tri-mester of the regular season, where everything has playoff implications. Some of us will not even be in this league next year, and some will live through tormenting and embarrassment for an entire year. Who can step up and determine their destiny and demand the respect they believe they deserve. Who has the perseverance, knowledge and determination to take the STY title this year? The time is now. You may win your hehe work league, or fun broski league with buddies, but there is only one fucking STOMP THE YARD!!!

Week 4 Recap

Posted in Uncategorized on October 9, 2011 by ckak5

Another week in the books and the lines are being drawn clearer and clearer. Clowns are being clowned and beasts are claiming their territory. 1 team remains undefeated, 8 teams are within one game of each other, 2 teams are in a do or die position and 2 have yet to win this year.

DockSquad (3-1) 162.97 – Cash Money Records (3-1) 139.20
Vik continues to assault anyone and everyone with a high point total week in and week out. Nicks, Welker, Rice, Mathews, Sproles all contributed heavily to the onslaught. Suman put up a nice point total with good games from Stafford, DeSean, Fitz, and Graham. Both teams look good right now and have avoided the injury bug thus far, should be seeing them run deep into the playoffs at this rate.

HHAY (4-0) 144.59 – CurbStompers (1-3) 137.61
Vishal retains the first quarter championship with a nice point total and strong performances from Brady, Jordy, Dez, and Blount. Amar has another decent games but can’t avoid the L, and is reportedly very heated and now talking about how his only goal is to destroy Vik. Cam (ahh Jamarcus),  Lloyd, and the Baltimore D did some damage for Amar, but he just cannot find the light yet and time is running out.

Coochie Monsters (2-2) 124.21 – Gizmodo (1-3) 90.79
Rahul has a nice bounce back game, keeping his position in the top 8. CJ85 and Turner can carry this team if they remain consistent. All Dizzle had was Romo, and the loss of AJ is going to be monumental, especially sitting at 1-3. Both teams are still a few waiver moves or trades away from being in the upper tier of the league.

Championship Belt (3-1) 178.19 **HSOTW** – Thugocracy (0-4) 143.74
Do we laugh here or do we cry? How can a defending champion go a full quarter of a season without a single win? Has this ever happened in any sport/league/match/world before? Ravi had a huge bounce back game after an injury ridden loss with great games from Arian, Ryan, VJax, Jennings, and Beanie Ahhh O-H!!! Vick, Steve Smith, and Witten are keeping WBB afloat, but he may need a miracle to get out of this hole.

G.O.A.T (2-2) 131.81 – King of the North (0-4) 111.48
Rama enjoyed a nice bye week scrimmage, with nice games Campbell, the NYJ D, and this season’s best RB RunDMC. The B Team from the North got decent games from Rivers and Rice, but not a lot to look forward to, especially given that the owner has already said he doesn’t care if he loses. It should be noted that the B Squad did make 2 whole waiver moves this week, so maybe they are trying to prepare for the big week 13 0-12 showdown.

K.O.D (3-1) 162.97 – ImGayForBradyQuinn (2-2) 114.09
Some people said AR was a dumb first pick. They said to take AP instead. In week 4, AR put up almost as many points as AP has all season combined, in a record setting performace, putting almost 60 pts on the board!! Today, you have learned what the definition of #stuckwithstupidfaceon is. Also for the first time in STY, two teams put up the exact same point amount (DockSquad and KOD). Cohin got big games from Julio and Forte to go along with AR, while Ajay got an average game from Brees. Fred continues to impress and Bowe could be a huge asset if only he finds some consistency. A lot of people hated on both these teams, but don’t be surprised if they continue to turn some heads even through the post-season.

A Look to Next Week…

Ajay vs Bob
Since Bob doesn’t care about this league, Ajay should get an easy ride to 3-2.

Rahul vs Vik
Just because this isn’t a rivalry game do not for a second think that it will not have the same if not worse environment. The beef goes back to IPB where shady moves were pulled that potentially resulted into the end of a team and career of the other. Personal shots and insults were made and the relationship got to a level of hate. Expect hell to break loose in the GAME OF THE WEEK!

Ravi vs Suman
There is a reason that Kanye and Rick Ross don’t have a big hit collabo together exclusively. While they may respect each other, neither wants to share the lime light with an equal or similar talent. This game mirrors this exact concept. Neither one wants to lose this game and it will not go down easy. Can’t wait to see how it plays out and who gets knocked into the 2 loss territory.

Amar vs Dizzle
The battle of 1-3′s will finally give one of these teams the coveted 2nd win. Both have had some ill luck, but strong waiver moves could make all the difference.

Vishal vs Rama
Another high power match up that should go to the end. Rama’s record does not depict the strong season he has had thus far and the clock has struck midnight on Vishal’s first quarter of the season. All signs point to the first loss of the season?

Cohin vs Billy
K.O.D looks forward to the much needed bye week.

Week 3 Recap

Posted in Uncategorized on September 28, 2011 by ckak5

We finally saw scores begin to stabilize this week and some teams even decided to play some defense. The league has a lot of parity throughout and it is still anyone’s season. Week 3 definitely did have some important implications…

Cash Money Records (3-0) 140.47 – Coochie Monsters (1-2) 103.86
Stafford, Fitz, Meachem, and Graham put this one away early for Suman and Hightower was just the nail in the coffin on Monday night. Rahul got a nice effort from Fitzpatrick, CJ85, and the Pitt D, but everyone else didn’t really do much to help. Suman’s team continues to look stronger by the week and live up to the high draft grade, all of this without his first round pick being in double digits yet. Rahul has put up a good point total all 3 weeks, but as bad as he wants Spiller to be the one to take him to the promised land.. it may just never happen.

ImGayForBradyQuinn (2-1) 172 – Championship Belt (2-1) 118.30
None of us saw this one coming. Ajay puts a lethal beatdown on Ravi, handing him his first loss of the season via strong efforts from Brees, Bowe, the smart pick up D. Thomas, Jermichael, the possible MVP Fred Jackson, and ironically against Ravi, The GB Defense. Ravi’s beat up and injured team couldn’t do much with the back ups as Arian is still out and losing Britt for the season will def hurt. Ryan, Jennings, Jacobs, and Daniels did what they could, but Ajay was determined to lose. When asked after the game about how he will handle Arian’s absence and if the team will be able to get by, Ravi replied “I felt like I was lucky to get him at #5, but if he continues to miss games, more and more I will feel like I #draftedTT.”

Curbstompers (1-2) 151.56 – King of the North (0-3) 114.64
The basement battle was supposed to be the game of the week, but Amar put an end to this one early thanks to Flacco, AP, Bradshaw, and the Ravens D murdering on Sunday, giving him his first win! The curse of the 12th man continues to haunt Bob despite his improvement by the week. he sits at 0-3 as the good efforts from Mike Wallace and LDT were not enough. Maybe Amar’s idol Peyton Hillis not playing was the key to his victory? Bob still looking for his first victory but was heard afterwards saying “It’s fun and that’s all that matters to me right now, it’s not just about winning all the time.”

HHAY (3-0) 130.68 – GizModo (1-2) 98.70
In typical Vishal fashion he retains the first quarter of the season title with the #1 spot and a nice points total to complement. Brady, Roddy, and Gronkowski led the way for him, and despite NE losing in real life, the stats give VP the W. Dizzle had his first down week, not getting much of anything from anyone other than AJ, MJD, and Lance Moore. Both teams hugged after the game.

DockSquad (2-1) 199.02 **HSOTW** – Thugocracy (0-3) 87.94
Ok. Wow. Where do we even start? Um. So Vik shattered the highest score ever in STY history. In doing so, he sent the defending champion* to 0-3, he beat him by 111.08 pts, and really really made many of the members of the league understand how WBB won the asterisked champion AND question his STY eligibility given the low amount of participation in the STY/GMC threads. In a year of extremely high scoring and record breaking totals, we have a defending champion who didn’t just not get into triple digits, but he did not even score 90 pts. Schaub, Welker, and Rice would have won this game for Vik by themselves, but Washington, Matthews, and Sproles wanted to get in on the beat down as well. Stevie Johnson and the Cincy D were WBB’s leaders. Good thing we did not make this the game of the week. Vik’s team looks very fierce, leading the league in scoring overall by almost 80 pts (which is almost as much as Billy put up this wk). Vick is hurt, Gore is old, D-Will is losing carries.. WBB needs to do something fast before becoming the first 0- season in STY history.

K.O.D (2-1) 126.58 – G.O.A.T (1-2) 123.46
This slugfest was easily the matchup of the week as K.O.D won in another last second thriller! Rama and Cohin exchanged hits throughout all of Sunday and it all came down to Troy Polamalu’s valiant effort Sunday night with a Fumble Recovery TD in the final minutes to win it for the Steelers and for K.O.D! Destiny at it’s finest. The absence of Reggie Wayne in Painter’s vision really hurt Rama, despite getting a good effort from Roethlisberger, McCoy, and a killer day for McFadden (somewhere Arjun and Amar hugged). AR, Boldin, Julio, Forte, the Arizona D, and Polamalu did the job for Cohin in dramatic fashion. Both teams have had good showings thus far, next week is very important for both.

Looking Ahead to Next Week…

We have some great matchups that will definitely make some statements about where the season is going for a lot of teams…

Suman and Vik go head to head in a battle of heavyweights, the #2 vs #3 team in the league. While Vik has put up far more points, Suman keeps finding a way to win. Barring injuries, this one should be a high scoring affair. This will definitely be our game of the week.

Rahul and Dizzle both find themselves at breaking points and know first hand how hard 1-3 is to climb back from. Don’t expect this buddy pal matchup to be all hugs, the team that loses seems to be in for a long season and they both match up pretty well.

Rama fights Bob in the battle for L.A and nobody needs a win more than Bob. 0-4 is not a good look as a new team, however sending a strong Rama team to 1-3 would definitely make a statement around the league. I will be watching this one closely.

Vishal and Amar go head to head at the perfect time. A win win for the league. If Vishal wins, we see Amar plummet to 1-3 and we all know how embarrassing that would be for him. If Amar wins, we see the patented Vishal collapse to begin to the point where he goes from #1 to barely on th eplayoff bubble come week 10.

Billy and Ravi face off and Billy is fielding a weak team while Ravi is fielding an injured team. Something has got to give. Can Ravi’s B Team send Billy to 0-4? Or will WBB find some FA personell or send his guys spreadsheets that the mavs are really gonna read so he can squeek out his first win?

Cohin and Ajay square off as both teams are 2-1 and looking for that 2 game cushion at 3-1. Ironically both parties will be in NYC this wknd to WITNESS the battle live. Should be a good one, both teams have shown explosion but definitely have their weak points.

Week 2 Recap

Posted in Uncategorized on September 21, 2011 by ckak5

Well it’s only getting more ridiculous. These point totals are out of hand, and one GM was quoted saying “Gay rule changes where defensive players get called for a penalty if they tackle the QB outside of a designated 1 foot area + db’s who can’t lay a finger on the offensive dude + defenders who can’t tackle anyone without fear of fines + a Nazi commissioner who has manipulated the league into an arena football type atmosphere” as being the reason. I don’t think anyone can disagree.

DockSquad(1-1) 167.90 – ImGayForBradyQuinn(1-1) 137.10
Ajay had a let down week after the big week one victory, despite putting up a nice total with contribution from Brees, Bowe, and Fred Jackson. Although this squad was the pre-season underdog, I think having Brees in this league will definitely put you in contention for the playoffs automatically. Vik’s team put up another high scoring week with a balanced attack on all parameters from Austin, Rice, Mathews, Sproles, and Schaub. It’s too early to predict when these point totals will stabilize, but if Vik’s stabilize in the range of his first two week totals, this team will be a serious problem.

HHAY(2-0) 162.82 – King of North(0-2) 151.87
Right when we were all ready to applaud and welcome KON into STY with a nice victory, he lets us down again, but the silver lining is that this week he crossed into the 3 digit territory for the first time. This team can make the jump if he gets similar weeks from Rivers, Wallace, Best, and Branch consistently, but moves like starting LDT will keep this team in the basement. HHAY slides by in another close one by getting another beast week from Brady and perhaps winning by just one long play, this time at the hands of Jordy Nelson (Last week was Welker’s). Are you sold on HHAY or will the big play streak eventually come to a halt?

Cash Money Records(2-0) 130.91 – GizModo(1-1) 117.55
In this bad blood matchup of former champions, a long Fitzgerald TD made all the difference, otherwise it would have been a burner. Apart from Fitz, Stafford gave Suman another great week (and stayed healthy) and Hightower did the rest. Romo and Andre did as much as they could for Dizzle, but we are seeing that RB2 hole get bigger.

Coochie Monsters 158.91(1-1) – Thugocracy(0-2) 153.83
This slugfest was an entertaining one and left the defending champion* 0-2 on his birthday weekend! Rahul rebounded from a tough week 1 loss with a vengeance perfomance from Maclin, Turner, CJ, the Pitt D, and what might end up being a huge FA steal in Fitzpatrick. WBB put up good points with a killer WR core of Stevie, Steve Smith, and A.J, and even good punches from Vick, Addai, Gore, and Witten, but this was just not going to be his week. It will be interesting to see how he bounces back in week 3, if at all.

Championship Belt(2-0) 178.85 **HSOFTW** – G.O.A.T(1-1) 139.32
Man. What goes around comes around and after Rama set the record with the beat down of Vik last week, Vik’s best friend Ravi takes revenge for him by not only beating Rama, but taking his record too! 11.5 yards away from 180 points this week, Ravi laid it down with Ryan, VJax, Jennings, Britt, and Beanie all getting it in. Rama didn’t back down as Ben, Marshall, Shady, Run DMC, and the NYJ D came hard too, but it just was not enough in the end. Both teams look dangerous and we could see them play again in the post-season.

K.O.D(1-1) 135.37 – CurbStompers(0-2) 134.43 **GAME OF THE WEEK**
Well the Bowl of Hygeia Game of the Week certainly did not disappoint. This one literally came down to the final plays Monday night and a few vultured TDs that could have easily changed the outcome. AR and Forte had their second consecutive killer weeks, Greene, Hernandez, and Starks helped shut the door for Cohin. With the early pick Hernandez on the sideline, it will be interesting to see how K.O.D can fill that great void he was giving them. Amar got a great punch from AP, Hillis, and Keller, but Flacco and the sleepy WR core cost the game here.

Looking Ahead to Next Week…

GAME OF THE WEEK 3: Basement Bowl – Curbstompers vs KON
You know Amar does not want to spend a day in the #12 spot and KON keeps getting better by the week. The adjustments each team makes here will determine this one, but don’t forget the bitterness inside each has for each other. The NBA CBA discussions do not sit well at all with the GM’s and Bob even went as far as to call Amar “illiterate” when it comes to understanding the CBA. Amar arms himself with a 1-2 punch of AP and Hillis and I don’t think any type of Bargaining will stop him from swinging this week.

Coochie Monsters vs Cash Money Records
Suman tries to maintain his perfect record, despite considerably lower point totals than the other undefeated teams. Rahul bounced back impressively in week 2 and will try to maintain that momentum. These two former roommate and teammates could just be shooting hoops in the back yard here and playing HORSE, but something tells me neither wants to lose to the other, especially considering the horrible things they said about one another regarding their thoughts on Mike Brown, Lebron James, and Matt Stover.

Championship Belt vs ImGayForBradyQuinn
Was Ravi’s big week a fluke? Can Ajay maintain .500 or better at least to the midpoint of the season? This game will determine both of those questions.

HHAY vs GizModo
Vishal currently leads the league with an undefeated record and points scored, but if there is a team that can catch him by surprise it could be Dizzle. Should be a good one.

Thugocracy vs Docksquad
This would have easily been the game of the week if WBB was not 0-2. Vik has the highest point total in the league and it would pleasure him to leave the defending champ at 0-3 and a big hole to climb out of. WBB will take adderall all week to figure out how to spreadsheet out of this one, but with Vick’s concussion, death may be inevitable.

K.O.D vs G.O.A.T
This matchup of #5 vs #6 will be another barn burner for KOD. Rama’s point totals are nothing to be reckoned with and apart from a monster week from his wk 2 opponent, he could have easily been 2-0. KOD will have to bring the heat and make some key substitutions to keep this one close and possibly come away with one.

I thought our settings might be jacked, considering the high point totals, but every league is having the same issue, and when you consider we have 2 extra positions against the common roster (RB/WR/TE and IDP) we are right on track with every other league. The high point totals will only create more discrepancy so this will def be an interesting season…

Week 1 Recap

Posted in Uncategorized on September 14, 2011 by ckak5

Wow. What a week! In my 10 yrs of fantasy football, I have never seen so many teams put up so many points all at once. We saw records shatter in the NFL, but you have to wonder if this is all a result of the “No Defense League” rule implementations protecting QB’s and letting them fire away. Let’s take a look at how week 1 played out:

Gizmodo 124.48 – King of the North 98.70
Not exactly how Bob wanted to start off his STY career, losing as well as being the ONLY team to stay in double digits. A rude awakening of how serious STY is to the newcomer. Romo, Andre, and the Philly D did the work for Dizzle while Bob only got a legitimate effort from Rivers and Weezy. It’s too early to rule Bob out, especially once the Steelers find their rhythm, and Rivers is due to explode anytime. Dizzle’s team showed consistency across the board, but there are rumors swirling that may put a hole at his RB2.

G.O.A.T 170.15 (**HSOTW**) – DockSquad 159.65
Wow. This has to be an STY record not only for highest score ever, but also for highest score combined, as well as highest score ever to lose. Rama picked up right where he left off last season with a crushing point total thanks to McCoy, Marshall, and the NYJ D that got some gifts from Romo. Vik’s team featured some bruisers as well getting heavy points from Austin, Welker, Rice, and the Bears D. Schaub’s underperformance cost Vik the game here, but both teams look poised to make good runs. After the game Rama had this to say “What goes around, comes around. If this asshole thinks he is too good to come to my wedding, no problem, I’ll serve him dinner on the fantasy field.” These two could meet again, and boy will it be entertaining.

ImGayForBradyQuinn 135.46 – Coochie Monsters 104.57
These best friends had a friendly touch game in the back yard, with Ajay actually surprising everyone with an impressive point total. Brees killed and the Plaz pick up late may actually turn out to be a steal for him. Rahul got nice points from CJ85, Colt, and Turner, but nobody else did anything. Literally, nothing. “It was good to get out there and have some fun with an old pal, everyone was a good sport and we all exchanged some hugs after. No hard feelings on the loss” Rahul would say afterwards.

Cash Money Records 141.50 – Thugocracy 133.63
In what was slated to be the game of the week between the two most recent defending champs, the final score implies more than it really was. Billy struggled to keep it close early and would only take the lead for a short time before Suman closed the door. Stafford, DeSean, and Hightower pulled Suman through, while it should be noted that first round pick CJ2K only mildly contributed. The situation in Tennessee could lead to more of that. Billy put up a fight with Vick, Stevie, SJax, and Witten getting some points, but some embarrassing numbers from Ochocinco and D-Will made this one easy to put away. “How did this guy even get a chip? I guess the asterisk says it all. Challenge me next time, thanks.” said Suman after the game.

Championship Belt 128.66 – Curbstompers 124.76
This one was a lot of fun to watch. It was a slugfest plagued with injuries and both hotheads wanted nothing more than to kick the other in the face. Both traded blows, but Ravi, even without his first rounder, pulled it off with solid days from Britt, Wells, Jennings, and the SF D. Flacco and the Baltimore D got Amar close, but the simple substitution of a healthy kicker would have probably won this one for him. Definitely leave a sour taste in his mouth and when reached out to for comment, the locker room was a mess as Amar had roid rage and trashed the place. When Ravi was reached out to, he was unavailable due to a blood alcohol level of 5.0 post celebrating the victory.

HHAY 153.78 – K.O.D 146.73
I would say this was the most dramatic of all the matchups, as it literally came down to one play. Cohin dominated the entire Sunday with great games from Rodgers, Boldin, Forte, and the breakout star Hernandez. Vishal stayed close enough with a huge day from Tolbert and good game from Dez, but then BRADY HAPPENED. 500+ passing yards with multiple TDs catapulted Vishal into the lead, but it was still a sword fight since Cohin had the NE kicker and retained a few point margin. Then 99 yd TD happened and slammed the door shut and Vishal escapes with a victory. In the previews I told you it would be pretty even and come down to one big play, and it followed suite.

A look ahead to next week…

DockSquad and ImGayForBradyQuinn square off with Vik as the favorite. IGFBQ surprised us last week though and hopes to do it again.

Cash Money Records vs GizModo is another game featuring former champions, both with something to prove this year. Suman had no shame in disrespectfully telling Dizzle in the pre-season that his chip was Tampa Bay-esque and will never happen again. Dizzle may be silent, but have no doubt he is looking for the silent kill.

G.O.A.T goes against Championship Belt this week and looks to be a good matchup if Arian comes back this week. I don’t think we will ever see another 170 point total, but what do I know? Should be a battle to the wire.

HHAY and King of the North face off and when Vishal was approached for comment, he replied with “Why are you asking me questions on my bye week?”… needless to say Bob will not take that lightly and will look to make Vishal his first STY victim.

Thugocracy faces Coochie Monsters, both coming off disappointing losses in week 1. Look for them to rebound and put up a good fight. Another friendly match up for Rahul confirmed by Billy who commented “It’s just fun to play, I don’t really care when I win or lose, as long as everyone had fun and stayed safe.”

Our matchup of the week is THE BOWL OF HYGEIA featuring Curbstompers against K.O.D. Both teams coming off losses that they feel like they should have won, so the energy will definitely be high in this one. Nobody has forgotten the verbal brawl both teams got into in the pre-season and don’t think for a second that this game won’t be a continuation. K.O.D has some favorable matchups, but if Curbstompers can get Donovan to throw for more than 49 yds and let AP loose, it could be a barn burner.

Your playoff run is made now.. it’s up to you if you want to STOMP or simply get CHOMPED.

Week 1 Preview

Week 1 is finally upon us. After a long lockout, a missing 12th member, and a hot summer, Stomp The Yard is officially back and in full swing. Let’s take a look at the Week 1 matchups…

GizModo v.s King of the North
Looking forward to this one as both teams have a statement game early on. Bob tries to prove that he belongs in his STY debut and Dizzle does not want to be forgotten any longer. Romo versus Rivers is the key matchup here, as both QB’s have a lot to live up to as well.

Coochie Monsters v.s ImGayForBradyQuinn – (NCE GY GAME OF THE WK)
This one is just two good pals having fun. Neither one really cares to win, as long as everyone had some fun. We’ll get to see Peyton, Calvin, Jermichael, and Brees play so that will be entertaining, but look for some warm hugs after this one.

CurbStompers v.s Championship Belt
These two may have forgotten but the rest of us definitely have not forgotten the personal insults exchanged between these two in the L^3 vs KNICKS war of earlier this year. Ravi insulting Amar’s years and years of training and writing to attain a basketball prowess which Ravi refered to as “laughable,” definitely did not sit well with Amar. Amar fired back with insults indicating Ravi only showed his face when his team (the Heat) won, and how he was a scared pussycat at all other times with no answer. While they may not say it out loud, you know deep down both of these hot heads want this one BAD. The Flacco/Adrian v.s Ryan/Arian head to head match up will determine this one, and you know the loser will definitely hear it for the rest of the season.

G.O.A.T v.s Docksquad
Rama wants to prove that last season wasn’t a fluke, and Vik wants to finish what he could not finish last yr, when he finished 2nd. The friendship of these kicked off when Rama was added to GMC and everyday the thread was reminded by Vik that “Rma is a gret adittn to ths thrd!!” everytime Rama told a funny joke. Since then, Vik is no longer on GMC, Rama is married and the “friends” have drifted apart. Neither one would mind kicking a little dust in the other’s eyes. This one will come down to the RBs with McCoy/McFadden vs Rice/Mathews. Vik is still fuming that he lost his “big sleeper” Rashad Jennings to injury, but we will see if he can suffice.

Thugocracy v.s Cash Money Records – Game of The Week
The past two defending champions* battle this one out to kick off the new season. Although neither will say much, you know bitterness lies and the true claim to the throne is at stake. Suman looks to rebound an embarrassing season and Billy looks for his first non-asterisked championship. Both rosters scream consistency, not necessarily excitement, but the point totals that Vick and Chris Johnson can accumulate will determine the winner.

K.O.D v.s HiHowAreYou
Both these teams have a lot of rage going into this season. Both have underperformed despite flashes of greatness in previous years and realize how important early success can be when point totals and wins are the difference between a playoff berth and seed or sitting at home. It doesn’t get better than AR v.s Brady in the QB showdown and both teams have efficint WR cores with young studs. This one is so even keel that it literally may come down to which IDP makes the big play.

Kiss the wives, gfs, and moms good bye and tell them you will see them in 16 weeks. War is NOW.
